Maak looked at the computer readout and the blinking red text that informed him all weapons systems were currently off line while security upgrades were being installed to the systems which controlled them.

Hopefully by the end of Alpha Cmdr. K’pajek would have coordinated (intimidated?) engineering enough to have them back and ready to go.

Maak was pulling a double shift on the Bridge, K’pajeks and his own and was awaiting his Department Head's signal to reboot the systems from the master console one by one.

The ‘night’ crew was still at their stations, Maak having come in early.

“Computer, raktajino please. Double, no sweeteners.”

The replicator complied, without as much as a ‘working’ or a ‘acknowledged’.

He really did have to sit down and speak with it sometime on the subject of etiquette.

{chrrruiip}

“Maak here. Go ahead.”

“Roger. Wilco. Out.”

“That virus really took us out good.” The helmsman commented, making conversation as sat at his console, winding up his shift report.

“Indeed. Sorry I wasn’t here for the fun.”

“Indeed.”

Companionable silence fell as the officers continued their work.

“Computer, recognize Lt. Cmdr. Maak.”

[Voice recognition temporarily off line at this terminal. Input code.]

“Um, 03456 Charlie?”

[Authorization denied.]

“Uh, 03265 Charlie?”

[Authorization denied.]

Maak gave up for a moment. Voice recognition had been on and off with so many systems being rerouted and he couldn’t remember the new password assigned to him at the moment.

It would come to him he was sure.

The raktajino was quite good, especially seeing as how Rada had proved to be able to walk quite a bit further on their first leg of their ‘journey’ (drinking) than Maak had given a young Angosian credit for.

*Yes, that might do it.*

{tap}

“Lt. Cmdr. Maak to Ensign Dengar.”

[Go ahead.>]

“Rada, could you please see if you can do something with Tac Station 1? Voice Rec is off again and K’pajeks waiting for me to reboot some things.”

[Can you just use your code, Sir?]

“Ah, well that doesn’t seem to work either.”

[Sure thing Sir. Give me a few minutes. Out.]

{chirrup}

“Maak here.”

[K’pajek. Is it rebooting?]

“I need a few more minutes to initialize that Sir.”

[Stop flirting with the light panels and get it done! Out.]

Maak sighed.

It was going to be a long two shifts.
