Title: In a Dream
Author: Simon Biggs
Scene: Inside Simon's mind (While still in the collapsed tunnel on Yensul V)Time: A while after "Something Somehow Sacred Part Three"
----------------------------------------------------

Simon Biggs was sure that he must be in Sickbay. He didn't feel so cold anymore, and he could hear voices, all around him it seemed.

He didn't understand why everyone wanted him to keep talking, he just wanted to sleep for awhile.

"How are you feeling, Ensign?" The EMH asked.

"Slight headache, Doctor, but what do you expect, getting hit by half the planetoid."

"At least you haven't lost your sarcasm." February Grace smiled at him gently.

Simon's expression turned serious. "Thank you, Grace, for saving my life, and for your beautiful singing. I owe you one." Simon said quietly. He felt dizzy; disoriented. He closed his eyes, and slipped into unconsciousness.

------------in a dream--------------

"Merry Christmas, Simon," his father said to him. Simon looked around in surprise. He was home.

"DAD!" Simon shouted, running towards his father and hugging him.

Simon's father looked years younger, and Simon realized, looking at his reflection in the window nearby, so did he.

"Let's go downstairs and see what Santa got for you." his father said excitedly.

Simon walked down stairs with his Papa, and into the living room and saw his Mum, sister and brother there.

"Morning, Simon!" they all said in a chorus. Simon paused, reaching out and hugging his sister tightly.

"Merry Christmas, Jenny." he whispered.

"Merry Christmas, Simon," she smiled. "Look in your stocking," she encouraged him gently, and when he did, suddenly everything changed.

He saw an image that looked familiar; three neutron stars circling a black hole.

He looked around him once again as everything changed and he discovered he was now on his dad's station during the attack. The alien vessel was firing, his father was ordering the evacuation and his sister Jenny, now all grown up, was trying to fend off the superior vessel.

Simon stared as if through a window and watched as Jenny's torpedo shots hit the vessel with accuracy, but had little effect. She fired some phaser shots as well, but the station's phaser banks were only type VI emitters, and as such also had negligible effect on the attacking ship..

In an instant, the console exploded in front of her, throwing Jenny across ops. She hit her head on the wall, and Dad rushed over to tend to her wounds, but it was too late. He couldn't save her.

Simon felt a tear fall from his eye as he watched these things occur, unable to alter them. The images around him suddenly changed again, and he was on one of the escape pods as he saw the station disappear, destroyed by a horrifying explosion.

He began to realize at this point he had really lost his dad and sister. . .

Everything went dark.

Then, after what seemed forever in the darkness, there was light.
