Title: Trying To Find One's Place
Author: Ensign Xhian (formerly 2 of 8
Scene:Various
Time: During and after "Welcome Back Home"

As people gathered near the transporter room doors, Xhian stood in the corner by himself. Those around him reunited with friends and family members on the crew who had served with the away teams on Bajor. He watched these reunions quietly until the room was nearly empty and most everyone else had gone.

Xhian found that his thoughts kept returning to his new designs rather than toward greeting the other members of the crew. He still felt isolated, as if those he'd met so far- with one exception in Lair Kellyn- felt uncomfortable around him and he believed that the most logical thing to do was to give them time to adjust to having him here.

People fear what they don't understand, he recalled this information from his studies of The Salem Witch Hunts, The Crusades, and The Inquisition of Earth during the Dark Ages. He realized that many sentient life forms still struggle with these issues centuries of time later, though he just can't understand why.

(Holodeck)

After leaving the gathering, Xhian returned to the holodeck to finish his designs and start testing his new configurations.

He thought to himself for a moment as he went back into Borg mode:

*Designation, Two of Eight. We are here to make improvements to the ships systems and weapons, that is our prime directive.* After that brief moment he shook the thought from his head, continued his work, and planned to present it to his superiors later on.

(Private Quarters)

Another day of work over, and Xhian was left with his own thoughts. He sat down, asking himself one question mostly.

*What am I exactly? I know I was once an Andorian- supposed to be somewhat militant. Similar in that way to the Klingons. But now I am neither Borg nor Andorian. What, or in reality, who am I?*
