Title: A Little Stroll, Captain?
Author: Lily T'Ana
Scene: Holodeck Four/The T'Ana Beach House Program
Time: In the middle of "Glitches" by RJ Gilmore
After finishing up with making sure everyone was comfortable in the house and on the beach, Lily walked out onto the lanai which covered part of the garden area. She had just summoned her uncle to come to the holodeck for a little exercise, and awaited his arrival.
For the first time in a very long time, she felt deeply content. As she waited, she realized suddenly that she was no longer alone. She became very aware of a male presence behind her, but it wasn't her "uncle". Every hair on the back of her neck seemed to stand up as she felt him come closer and closer. Then he stopped.
Standing directly behind her, he reached around her with his arm. With his hand, he reached for hers. She knew instantly by his hand, his arm, even just his scent who he was. Why she was having this reaction to him for the past few days was so puzzling for the usually level headed Lily T'Ana. With his hand in hers he spun her around.
"These blossoms pale in comparison to the delicate beauty that I have seen in you since the day we met."
Lily tilted her head to look up into his eyes, she had never seen Angus look like this before. There was something in his face, his manner, the way he held her now, that made Lily feel like she had never felt before.
So safe, so- home.
They melded into an embrace that was so natural and soon they just began to sway gently, as the wind began to breeze in off the ocean. There was no music playing, no music that anyone but the two of them could hear, that is. She discovered she loved the way his arms felt, the way her head fit just perfectly in the crook of his neck.
He backed away from her for just a bit and said, "I've wanted to tell you how I feel about you for a long time, but I was afraid you would think of me as the guy with a girl in every space station, every planet, ya know? I don't know what Trick has said about me. To tell you the truth, Gilmore scares the livin' daylights out of me."
Lily looked at him and said, "The old girl in every port eh? Well, I guess everyone has a past don't we Angus? Do you think that I have just been Lily T'Ana studious science girl? I have a past, albeit probably not a novel like yours." Lily looked at him, smiled ever so slightly and raised one eyebrow.
With that Angus saw a side of Lily that he had seen only briefly before, like when she was teaching him kickboxing and he was falling flat on his face.
He didn't care, never had he felt for anyone what he felt for her. But he wanted to, no, needed to, convince her and anyone who cared about her and loved her, that he was serious about showing her just how much he cared for her.
"I believe that you have a story to tell, and I want you to tell me all of it. I want to know every little thing about you." He took his finger and traced it over her ear and down her chin, something that felt irresistible.
The unmistakable sounds of footsteps walking up the path and the clearing of the throat of none other than the Captain himself caught the two of them off guard.
"Am I interrupting something here that I should know about?"
"Uncle RJ!" Lily backed up so quickly that she almost landed in a flower bed. Angus stepped forward with a save the likes of which had not been seen since a Stanley Cup Playoff hockey game!
Once he caught her, both of them turned their heads and looked at Gilmore with faces as rose colored as the bush that Lily had almost fallen into.
"No, not interrupting anything! Lily said.
"No, no sir. We were just having a chat. We made lots of food inside there sir, are you hungry?" Angus was trying anything he could to get Gilmore's mind off the situation at hand.
"Food you say? It looks like someone was hungry around here for something, that's for darn sure." Gilmore said in a gruff huff.
"Why don't I go inside and clean up the kitchen and check on the ... um ...can I get you something to drink sir?" Angus stumbled.
"No, nothing." Gilmore said curtly.
"OK then, I'll see you both later." Angus said.
"You can count on that one." Gilmore promised him.
Lily rolled her eyes at her uncle and gave Angus a look as if to tell him don't worry I will smooth it over with Uncle RJ, so quit sweating bullets.
"Come Uncle, let's take a walk on the beach. She took RJ's arm and the two walked arm in arm down to the beach like they had when Lily was growing up.
"So I guess you are wondering what's going on?"
"You could say that and not lightly I might add!" Gilmore ranted.
"To tell you the truth, I don't know myself, I've just been getting to know Angus for the last few months and doing recreational things and all. We have fun, then all of a sudden, I've felt these changes inside me. I know he's been interested, I am part human and I am female, so a girl kind of knows these things right?" Lily asked.
RJ walked along the beach with Lily and listened to her, not wanting to admit she was a grown woman. He hated the idea of any man with his little Lily.
That's when he broke in and said, "But, he's been around, you know? I know his type, in every bar in the galaxy. Besides, I remember you being hurt before and it nearly killed me to see you like that. I wanted to kill that, that, ugh dare I say 'officer' on board the USS Dakota who cheated on you with that bimbo."
"Oh Uncle, you are so sweet to be so protective over me, I love you for it. But Tim was someone who my mother wanted for me, I didn't want to be with him. She was the one who said we looked good together, blah, blah, blah. It wasn't right from the beginning. Every girl is hurt when someone who is supposed to be true to you cheats. But it wasn't that I really cared about the relationship with Tim, it was that he couldn't be honest with me. Now I am older, I know what I need for myself. With Angus, it's just different, that's all. We have known each other as friends first. But something, hmmmm, physiological, biological is happening here. Oh god, now I sound like my father!"
"Well you can't escape your parentage that's for sure. Both of them! But you know how I feel when it comes to you Lily. I am entrusted with you. Your dad will have my head and a few other parts if something happens to hurt you. Besides I know a little about Angus. He's a little too much like... like .."
"Hmmm, like you were once?" Lily looked over at her uncle and grinned.
RJ looked at her and didn't say a word. Lily leaned over and kissed him on the cheek. "Thanks for caring about me so much."
"It's my pleasure. You know out here, I am still just your Uncle RJ." He smiled back at her, but Lily could tell that he was growing more tired by the moment from the exercise.
"I'm not quite myself yet." Gilmore admitted with a sigh.
"Come on. You can take a nap before you head back to quarters," she concluded, and with that they walked back to the house.
