Maak was enjoying the feel of the decking under his feet.

Of course it was the same material that he had walked on while on Arcadia, and the gravity systems that held him down were the same, but to Maak it still felt different to be on a ship again.

Maak was realizing belatedly that he had been working at a 'desk job' and was glad to be back on a proper vessel. The bulkheads and decking sort of hummed at him, resonantly responding to his psyche, as all things did. At times he seemed to have 'conversations' with inanimate objects.

Starfleet doctors were still puzzling that one out.

The Klingon tapped an LCARS wall unit with one finger. "Computer, please direct me to sick bay."

Without comment (which led Maak to believe that the computer was a bit stand-offish), the ship flashed arrows for Maak to follow. At the end of the trail Maak found himself knocking on a office door where a young woman sat behind an immaculate desk.

"May I help you?"

She rose as she stood.

"Yes ma'am, I'm looking for Dr. McBrayne."

"Dr. McBrayne is not available. I'm Ensign St. John, and I will be giving you your physical today."

Maak shuffled around in his pockets for a data chip.

"I'm Maak, ma'am, the new tactical officer and I..."

"Examination room 4 please, you may disrobe and I will be in there shortly. It will just take a moment for me to get your file."

Maak finally found the data chip, and blew some pocket lint off of it.

"This is my medical file, Ensign."

The young officer looked at the man a bit suspiciously.

"Why are you carrying it around with you? Isn't it in Starfleet common files?"

"No it is not."

"Why not?"

Maak shrugged.

"I'm not quite sure. It IS extensive and I've been told quite unusual, apparently I've been classified or some such thing."

He handed the chip to her.

"Yes, well. I will be in with you shortly, after I review this."

"Thank you."

Maak found room 4 and eyed the modesty gown he was to put on with distaste. After he had donned the silly garment, Maak seated himself on the exam table which he tried to say hello to.

When Ensign St. John entered the Klingon was cajoling the furniture for not being very friendly. She looked down at her PADD that contained Maak's records and frowned.

"OK. I thought maybe this was a joke at first Mr. Maak but apparently not?" She looked at him, half wanting him to confess to being put up by someone to waste her time.

"Joke? No no, Ensign there is no joke."

"In that case, make yourself comfortable. This may take a while."

"Dr. Chong always said he did not understand why I was alive at all." Maak smiled and seemed rather proud of this.

"Looking at these brain wave patterns, I can understand his confusion on that point. Shall we?"

Maak noticed the way the young woman included him in the process and decided he liked her.

"Of course Dr. If you can figure me out, please let me know. Um, you ARE a doctor. . . yes?"
