"You're late!"
A large, and well almost goofy, grin broke out on to Fox's face.
"I have a good reason," she replied to the other person.
That other person was her old friend Jennifer, who had flown in that morning from Manhattan to join Fox in Paris for the day. The first stop of their day was Pierre's, an exclusive massage studio that had been one of Fox's favorite places in Paris for as long as she could remember. Jennifer was already lying down on the massage bed, and Pierre's best assistant, Roxanne, had already begun to treat Jennifer to a luxurious massage.
"You had better," Jennifer stated, though her tone was anything but serious.
Fox held up a small white bag that was decorated with pale lavender ink. There was also one word etched on to the bag: Ladurée.
Jennifer gasped. "How did you get in?"
"It's me." Another big smile broke out on to her face. "And when I want a macaroon from Ladurée, they are more than happy to comply."
Ladurée was a bakery and pastry shop that had been open on the Champs-Élysées since 1862, and their most famous specialties throughout the Federation was their macaroons. They were now in such demand, that it usually took an order made a month in advance to get the delectable treats. But for Fox, when there was a will, there was a way. Or in this case, she once had had a photo shoot there, and she and the current owner, Louis Ladurée, had hit it off, which meant that Fox could get whatever treats she wanted when she was in town.
"Okay, so I know you got Cherry amaretto," Jennifer said, now just as excited. "What else?"
"Strawberry poppy, white chocolate, and champagne," Fox answered, setting the bag down and heading for a small changing room, where she began to slip off her own clothes. Having changed from civilian clothes to a soft, terrycloth robe, Fox emerged and sat down on the other bed in the room. "Plus, Ruby Kiss."
Jennifer raised her eyebrows in curiosity, beckoning for her friend to continue.
Fox shrugged. "Louis would not tell me what's in it. He just said that I would love it."
"Like Louis is capable of making anything bad."
"Exactly."
"Lovely!" a third voice said.Fox turned her head and saw the boutique's owner, Pierre, glide into the room and over to her. He gave her a kiss on each cheek. "How are you doing today?"
"Oh, Pierre, the Holodeck program you gave me as a gift was just perfect. It recreated this place, and even you, down to the last perfectly manicured finger on your hand," Fox gushed.
"For you, anything," Pierre replied, as he motioned for her to lie down so he could begin.
"But it is just not the same as really being here," she continued, her body immediately responding to Pierre's treatment.
"Well, then we shall just have to make this visit for you and your friend extra special today."
With a very contented sigh, Fox said, "I think we can live with that."Faustine
