Title: Where Are The Officers?
Author: David McKenna
Scene: Various
Time: Following: What the Devil?
"Who Sir, are you?" enquired the Lieutenant sitting opposite the opening lift doors.
"I, Lieutenant, am Lieutenant Commander David McKenna of Starfleet Headquarters, here to speak with your Commanding Officer." Said David in a commanding and authoritative tone.
"Well, acting Captain Zanh is in engineering, and I am assuming Captain Gilmore is in his quarters." Said the Lieutenant, Dave could sense a little teasing coming from the Lieutenants thoughts.
*Thank-you Lieutenant, I believe I will follow protocol and wait here for the return of the Commanding Officer* Said David, to the Lieutenant, to try throw his cocky attitude off balance.
*You're telepathic? But I read you as a human, Commander.* Said the Lieutenant in a confused and unbalanced thought pattern.
*Yes Lieutenant, I am quite adept, as an empath and middle level telepath depending on my concentration levels. I can also some how with deep meditation and concentration create a projection of myself that others some miles away can see.* But more interestingly Lieutenant, if I am not mistaken, you are El Aurian*
"Yes, I am El Aurian, Lieutenant JG Michael Windsor, Security Officer, Sir. I felt like a new life with new changes and new challenges so,"
"You joined Starfleet, we may have to talk some time Lieutenant, I believe we have some things in common." As David panned around the room he noticed the lack of people filling bridge posts, as well as noticing that each person on the bridge was a crewman with the exception of Lieutenant Windsor.
"Lieutenant, where are your bridge staff and officers?"
"Well Sir, a high majority of the crew have extra R&R time, some people are doubling up shifts and stations. Captain Zanh was here except with the malfunctions she had to go to engineering, no one was answering hails, seems there was a glitch in that system too and well that's all I think I should tell you sir, with respect, I don't have the authority to give you all the information."
"Very well Lieutenant, I shall take a seat at the mission specialist station and await the return of the Captain. If there is anything I can do for you, I do have a background in most areas- although I do not like engineering or piloting. . ."
