Title: Good to Go
Author: Lair Kellyn
Scene: Deck 29: Power Distribution
Following "Informal Introduction"

Working as a team, Kellyn and Rada made short work of bringing the weapons systems back online. Again.
She was going to have to have a word with the night shift, that much was certain.
The good news though, was that Kellyn was impressed with the speed and efficiency with which Rada worked.
"It's such a relief," she said, as she handed her tools back to him one by one and he returned them to her kit, taking care to position each item precisely and in its proper place.
"What is?"
"To know that they have just packed all those engineers on loan from Trill onto the transporter pad and beamed them back home."
"They got a lot accomplished, didn't they though?"
"Oh yeah. But you ask any chef if they like to have twenty other cooks in their kitchen. Then you'd know why I'm glad to see them go."
"I understand."
"Yeah, they tore through and accomplished a lot. I just hope I can still find my ladle."
Rada shook his head. It seemed that colorful metaphors were the order of the day aboard the Independence, he would have to get used to that. There was something he had been wanting to ask her, though, and now was as good a time as any. "Sir?"
"Kellyn."
Rada hesitated, remembering the look on Commander Salvek's face earlier when he thought that Rada was being overly familiar with his wife by using her first name as she'd told him to.
"Come on, you can say it." She said with a laugh, remembering the look on Salvek's face as well.
"Kellyn," he began again. "It seemed to me, and this might sound crazy but, I swear your husband smiled at me earlier. If he's Vulcan, then,"
"You saw a very rare sight today, Mr. Dengar," Kellyn interrupted, "and I'd suggest that you might want to keep it to yourself."
"Really?"
"Yes. Because it's a sight you likely won't ever see again, and I won't see again for another seven years or so."
"Oh?" it took a moment for the meaning of her words to click in Rada's mind. "Oh." Color flooded his cheeks. "Yes, Ma'am. Um, Sir. Um. Kellyn. I think we're finished here aren't we?"
"Yep. Everything should be up and running now."
"Then if it's all the same to you, I think I'd like to begin repairs to the Ganymede?"
"By all means. Remember, kiddo, auxiliary ships of the Independence are my primary care and keep when Salvek is in his rightful spot as Chief Engineer," she looked at him sideways as she finished tapping her comments on the weapons systems into a PADD.
"So take good care of my Ganymede."
